Whilst developing my Kids TV show intro ‘Star Cruise’, I was
able to develop new digital skills which I will talk more about later as well
as being aware that room for improvement is also welcome. Before this
assignment was given, I had no previous experience with Adobe program ‘After
Effects.’ This was a new field for me and I managed to pick up a lot of new
skills. I was able to import files on to the program and stretch/cut a footage,
sound, text or image at my disposal. Like doing anything else for a first time,
it took me time to adjust to the program but I would suggest my experience of
using ‘Final Cut Pro’ may have played a pivotal role in making my intro happen.
One thing I would suggest is if I had more time to create
the TV intro, I would have used a costume and props for the actor(s) involved
as on my TV intro, the actor’s clothing didn’t really fit the conventions of
someone around technology (spaceship). I would have also tried to figure out
how to avoid making footage slightly transparent when taking out the green
screen at the back. It was an issue I ran into a few times but didn’t have
enough time to check and try to correct.
For a first Kids TV intro, I believe that the sequence and structure
was easy and effective to understand as I tried to use key conventions I had
found out through research. I also believe that my Photoshop skills were
effective in making my robot as I have had experience using the program and
have a general idea of how to use all the tools on there.
Overall I believe that although there could have been room
for improvement on many aspects of the TV intro, as a first attempt at
manipulating footage under After Effect I have pulled off a decent job though I
am always willing to learn.
